mini skirt (30% off through Sunday with code EXTRA30) // cropped Sweater c/o Boutique Rye (15% off through Monday with code BLK15) // over-the-knee boots // purse // black earrings
It is officially cold outside. Cue the groans. My initial reaction when the temperature drops is to immediately bundle up and pull out all of the cozy knits and ankle boots. Re-stocking an entire new winter wardrobe can be hard on the pocketbook especially when trying to keep up with all of the new trends. I like to get creative instead and use items that I already have in my closet and style them differently to make it work. Like how I styled this mini skirt I already have. Just because it is chilly, doesn’t mean we have to completely ditch high hemlines! When styled properly, the mini skirt can stick around all year round.
One way to transition those mini skirts into colder weather, is to pair it with a chunky sweater. I love this cropped one from my friends shop, Boutique Rye. It comes in burgundy too! (bonus: they are having a Black Friday sale that is 15% site-wide through Monday). There is something about cropped tops that are so playful and feminine. Since this skirt is high waisted, the cropped look works for those like me that don’t want to show their whole tummy. This sweater is also super warm so it makes up for the shorter length of the skirt. The chunky sweater helps dress it down a bit and makes the look appear so effortless!
Over the knee boots are another way to help keep your legs warm when pulling off this look. There is something about tall boots that elongate your legs and help take this outfit to the next level. I purchased these boots last year and I can’t get over how much I wear them. They go great with sweater dresses, skirts, and even jeans. I love how the height of these boots leaves only few inches of leg showing with this skirt. Another alternative if you don’t have tall boots is to add a pair of tights and throw on some ankle boots or pumps.
My mini skirt is one item in my closet that is here to stay for the winter! What are some warm-weather pieces that you are brining into the cold season??
