    Hey guys! The Nordstrom sale has been opened to the public for a few days now and I am SO excited because I got Nate to sit down with me and pick out his favorites from the sale. A few of the items he picked are items that he already owns and wears ALL the time including these shorts and these jeans. He also owns this cologne. I bought it for him for our anniversary a few years ago and I love the way it smells!

    One thing you all may not know about Nate is that he owns his own golf apparel company.  He has really great style for a man ( in my opinion) and he does a great job putting outfits together. I would describe his style as modern and clean. He is very picky and doesn’t like things to be baggy or loose. He golfs about 3-4 days a week and so a lot of his style is things that he can take from the golf course to dinner.

    His birthday is in August so I guess I am starting to think about his birthday gift. Making this list with him definitely gave me some great ideas! I think this coat would be a great piece to buy and save for a Christmas gift! I also think the tie clip, the messenger bag, and watch would make awesome gifts and you don’t have to worry about fit or sizing.

    A great top can take you so many places. This pretty little olive green peplum top is so versatile, I wanted to show you by styling it two different ways! I just love the tie back detail – it is so perfect for those hot summer days. I picked it up from Kindred along with these striped shorts, both by Scoobie!

    OUTFIT 1 // For a more a more casual daytime look, I paired this top with a pair of lightweight shorts to keep it cool and comfortable. This striped pair adds a super preppy vibe to this feminine, flirty top. They are at the perfect pairing for summer.  I decided to add a pair of flat slides for comfort.

    OUTFIT 2 // Take this top from day to night by adding a pair of white denim and trendy wedges. One trick that I have learned that will take an outfit to the next level is to add a pop of color. I have done this by tying this cute, red scarf in my hair. I am loving this trend this season.

    Try pairing a peplum top with your favorite shorts or white denim this Summer season for a versatile and effortless look that will be sure to elevate and make you feel confident wherever you go!  Peplum tops accentuate the waistline and add such a flattering flair any outfit.     Shopping Local in Kansas City – My Favorite Boutiques

    I am so blessed to live in a city where there are so many great local boutiques! Some benefits of shopping local boutiques are: they tend to have more unique items that aren’t in the big name stores, many of the items come at a better price, and there is a limited stock meaning that you won’t show up to a party wearing the same thing as another guest. An added bonus is helping out local business owners by shopping local. I wanted to share some of my favorite local spots to shop for clothes here in my home town of Kansas City!

    KINDRED

    As many of you have seen in previous posts, I love shopping at Kindred. Kindred is a collective boutique which means you are able to shop multiple different boutiques all under one roof. They have clothing, apothecary, gifts, shoes, and even a vintage section. It is a one-stop shop for any of your shopping needs. Kindred is located at Oak Park Mall right outside of Nordstrom. 11133 W 95th Street, Overland Park, KS.

    ADDIE ROSE + SHOP SCOOBIE

    The owners of Addie Rose and Shop Scoobie are cousins and recently joined forces and share the same space now! They are the coolest chicks and they both have the BEST taste. They have the greatest stuff in their stores at such an affordable price point! They are located at 4856 W. 135th Street, Leawood, KS. You can also purchase Shop Scoobie items at Kindred, Garment District downtown, and she also does pop-up’s around town!

    LADY BYE KC

    If you have been following me for a while then you know how much I love this store! So many of my friends have thanked me for introducing them to this place. I stumbled upon this store on their opening day. I happened to be meeting my wedding photographer at the Roasterie and I had some extra time to kill so, obviously, I went shopping! The decor in the store is so light, airy, chic and feminine, matching the vibe of all of the pieces in the store. The staff members are so helpful and great, I couldn’t recommend this store more. Lady Bye is located at 6425 Brookside Plaza, Kansas City, MO.

    MODERN SOCIETY

    I first visited this store a few weeks ago and I plan to return often. This is where I purchased this amazing two piece outfit! The flagship store is located in Springfield, MO and recently opened in Leawood at Town Center Plaza.  This store is such a refreshing surprise because most of the stores at Town Center are corporate, chain stores. They house both Men and Womens merchandise, so bring your man in and he can shop while you do! They also have and shoes, handbags and accessories!  They are located at 5040 W 119th St, Leawood, KS.

    Early Access Picks – Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018

    Happy First Day of Early Access!! I could not sleep at all last night because I was so excited and anxious about the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I actually was staring at the ceiling at 4:00 AM so I figured I might as well just get up and start shopping! I had to work today and I was worried I may not have enough time to shop and put this blog post together. I made my order before work and I ended up being late. I don’t exactly have the type of job where I have time to handle personal matters which is why I am posting this a little late, but better late than never! I skimmed through each department for you and I have decided that the easiest way to shop is by breaking it down into categories. There is SO much good stuff this year. A few items are some favorites from last year, but are an updated version and even better in my opinion. I will continue to update this post for you all throughout the sale!

    Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018: Sneak Peek!

    You guys, I am so amped for the 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I can’t believe it starts TOMORROW! I have been talking to a bunch of my friends and they keep asking me what I like so far from the sale catalog! I thought I would share what I am eyeing with you all.

    If you haven’t heard of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I spilled all of the details about it in this post!

    It is pretty much the greatest sale of the year and here is why…

    You can shop BRAND NEW items at majorly discounted prices. These items are both summer and fall items and include many top name brand names. Think Topshop, AG, Kate Spade, Madewell, Free People and more. This includes women’s clothing, shoes, jackets, activewear, handbags, beauty and makeup. You can also shop for kids or  your significant other while you’re at it!

    Shopping for fall items in summer can seem a little backwards, but thats where I come in! Let me navigate the sale for you. I will be sharing a shopping guide on my blog and I will also be sharing looks on my instagram and IG stories! I always try to keep things affordable, but sometimes there are times that are worth the splurge. For example this camel coat I feel is an investment. I have a coat like this that I wear all the time but I didn’t pay much for it and it is not very warm. It is worth it for me to invest in a new camel coat since this is the coat I wear 90% of the time in the winter. I also think a nice pair of boots is worth the splurge because they can last you multiple seasons!

    2018 NORDSTROM CATALOG

    Get ready babes! The sale of all sales is less than two weeks away! Knowing how to prepare for this sale is key and will help relieve some stress, and help you get more bang for your buck. I have been shopping this sale for years and I know what to splurge on and what to pass on. I plan to share all of my secrets with you!

    What is the NSale?

    The Nordstrom Anniversary sale is an annual sale in which brand new items (both summer and fall) are on sale. This is unlike many other sales that have least season trends or older items at discounted prices. The NSale has top brands like Rebecca Minkoff, Tory Burch, Free People, Topshop, Madewell, and more. These brands are discounted up to 70% off. Most of these items are ones that rarely (if ever) go on sale. The sale runs for three and a half weeks and new itms are added throughout.

    When Does it Start?

    Early Access:  Thursday July 12-Thursday July 19

    Public Event:  Friday July 20-Sunday August 5

     

    How Should I Prep?

    1. Get the Nordstrom credit card. This allows you to shop the sale before the rest of the public. This is important because the really great stuff WILL sell out before public access. I am not trying to shove a credit card offer down your throat, but having the card is the only way you can gain early access to the sale. You can apply here. Again, I do not get any perks for this, I am only offering as a tip.
    2. Inventory your closet and make a list of items you need. I highly suggest this. I take inventory of staple items that I wear every day such as jeans, boots, jackets, handbags, purses, cardigans, everyday tops, and beauty/makeup items. I like to look through my fall wardrobe and decide:
      • What am I missing?
      • What do I need to replace?
      • What do I need to get rid of?

    3. Let me shop for you! You all know i LIVE for sales and this is the the mother of them all. I have shopped this sale for many years and consider myself a seasoned veteran!     4.  Browse the sale catalog. This is a sneak preview of some of the itms that will be on sale, but there will be many more!

    PRO Tip: As a Nordstrom cardholder, you have a certain amount of triple points days. You can opt to use this in store with your salesperson, or online during checkout. This means that you get three times the points for your purchases!

    Mother’s day is just around the corner! I don’t know about you but I always have such hard time picking out gifts for my mom. I started browsing today and thought I would share my picks for Mothers’ Day gifts here for you. These are so good, that I’m actually having a hard time picking which one to get for my mom! I may have to purchase a few of these for my self as well! A few of the items I included are things that I own and think would be perfect for my mom too. All of the items are under $100, but most are under $50.

The Sephora Spring Bonus Event sale is offered once a year and many people use this opportunity to stock up on essentials. Today I am sharing my Sephora Spring Bonus Event picks along with some tips and tricks for shopping the sale.

    What You Should Know

    The first thing you should know is in order to shop the sale, you need to be a Sephora Beauty Insider.  It’s free to sign up and you will get a gift for your birthday as well as access to shop their sales. The member program has three tiers. Anyone can be a Beauty Insider, but once you spend more than $350 a year you become a VIB member. If you spend $1000 you can become a Rouge member. Rouge members get access to the sale a full week ahead and 15% off. VIB Members get regular access and 15% off, while Beauty Insiders get 10%.

    Tips & Tricks

    • Stick to products you love and wear often. Stock up on your favorite mascara, foundation, and perfume!
    • Make a list of “must-haves” versus “wants.”
    • Shop the sale section! Now is the time to save all the money!
    • Shop Sephora’s value sets. This is a great way to get more for your money!
    • This is a great time to buy something new. Keep in mind that if you are, make sure to have a good recommendation from a friend and read the reviews.

     

    My Picks

    Here are all of my sale favorites. All of these products (with the exception of one) are products that I currently use or have used before and LOVE! I wouldn’t share things with you all that I don’t fully stand behind. The one product that I haven’t tried is the Glow Recipe Watermelon Mask. This is a product that came highly recommended to me and I have been wanting to try for a while. I have read the reviews and definitely plan on purchasing this! I have also linked my current shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo. My makeup erasing towel that I use overnight before washing my face, and take with me to use before I spray tan. Speaking of spray tan this is the kind that I use at home and it give you the perfect natural color! Don’t forget to get the mitt that comes with it so you can make sure it goes on evenly and to protect your hands! I also included my favorite perfume which I am out of in the full size but it also comes in a rollerball. All of the makeup included is stuff that I wear every day! If you have not tried the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation, I highly suggest you do.  I have gone through several bottles of this and in my opinion it is the best full-coverage foundation! It is not heavy and cakey but gives the appearance of an airbrushed flawless look! The Stila Huge Extreme Lash mascara is the best formula. It does not clump and adds length and volume to your lashes! I use this contour pallet and this brush! I always finish off my makeup with the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder.     The Trend To Try: Oversized Buttons

    A couple of weeks ago as my friends and I were grabbing drinks after work we began talking about the need to purchase new spring clothes (probably as we were complaining about the current cold weather situation). One of my friends asked me if there was anything specific I thought that she should buy. I began racking my brain for spring “must-haves” and I named all the staples: white jeans, denim jacket, basic tees, sun dresses, denim shorts and espadrilles.

    Then it hit me! I told her to look for anything with oversized buttons. She gave me a puzzled look and was like what are you talking about, Heather?  It was hard for me to explain without showing her specific items, so I thought I would share with you!

    Here are 11 dresses with oversized button embellishments on. If I am being honest I could have found WAY more, but I wanted to keep everything affordable for ya’ll and I also wanted to make sure everything was in stock! I also decided to only do dresses for simplicity but there are also tons of button-up skirts and tops out there as well! Most of these dresses are 21% off today so they are a no brainer!

    I love that these dresses are constructed from more summery fabrics such as linen, cotton, or lightweight knit. They also have pretty simple silhouettes which helps make the buttons the main focus.
